Pauluskirche [St. Paul's Church]

Lucerne's St. Paul's church (1912) was designed by Swiss architect Karl Coelestin Moser, who also created St. Paul's Church in Basel (Neo-Classic/Art Nouveau, 1908) and St. Anthony's Church in Basel (first roughcast concrete church in Switzerland, 1928).

St. Paul's Church was the first modern church in Lucerne after Jesuit Church (1677). While the inhabitants of the first 19th century boomtown district Neustadt had a relatively short distance to the medieval left shore Franciscan Church, inhabitants of the younger Hirschmatt district demanded for their own parish church. So St. Paul's Church replaced an older chapel on the road to Kriens.
